For « Sustainable Development »
at the Peiffeschof

Whether it involves global warming, the reduction of inequality or economic development, modern man has found the answer for everything: « It's simple, we just have to practice sustainable development ». Behind this magical concept for our communication champions hides a real challenge for our future, the true value of which must be considered.

« Sustainable development is development that allows us to satisfy our current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to satisfy theirs ». « Sustainable development aims to foster a state of harmony between human beings and between man and nature ».

Sustainable development - initial results!!!

Following our recent investments aimed at reducing our energy needs and producing green energy in 2009 and 2010 our business has been able to economise more than 75,000 Kg of CO2 up to the end of March 2011!

In plain language here are our achievements and actions taken over the last few months:

  • The 'precautionary principle', respecting FASFC standards, our purchasing policy favouring fresh local produce, European wines, local beers, etc…

  • Social responsibilities (racial and sexual equality, equal opportunities, equity, dignity, human rights and promoting training on the job, etc…)

  • Considering the environment when making decisions (protecting flora and fauna, CO2 emissions, energy consumption, etc…) :

    • We have been producing green electrical energy since the end of 2008, This amounts to 9,680 Wp a year with our solar panel roof system measuring almost 80m2.

    • The investment made in October 2009 to install LED lighting for the outside car park and in the hotel hall have resulted in savings of almost 70%.

    • We practice efficient waste management that respects the environment. Waste is sorted (glass, paper, cardboard, plastics, fats, etc.) and a compost area has been in use since the beginning of 2009.

    • We use biodegradable soap in adapted quantities.

    • We favour planting native species (hornbeam, beech, etc.) and our garden provides us with aromatic herbs for the kitchen, as well as raspberries and quinces, etc…
